Harry Newman is the Student Union’s President and is continuing his degree in civil engineering this coming academic year and will be graduating this time next year. I had a very quick chat with him before one of the ceremonies started.
How does it feel being part of this years graduation?
- I love it, it’s the best day of the year. It’s a refreshing, happy occasion in the University calendar.
Do you have any special or funny memories from your time at Cardiff University?
- Where I sit on the stage I can see all the graduates as they come up to the vice-chancellor. I can see what they say to the vice-chancellor when they shake his hand, and its not always ‘thank you’. The old vice-chancellor used to talk about it, his favourite was ‘nice one vice’ or I heard today ‘cheers mate’ and a little pat on the shoulder. It’s all good fun!
